Emotion and rhythm is a major part of film editing. Learning when to cut is a matter of practice. It might appear easy but it is not something that comes easily at first. Watching lots of movies, especially old ones, will help you to understand rhythm and know what works and what doesn’t work.
Keep practising, try cutting your scene in different lengths and see which works best. Watch your actors carefully and see how they move. Cutting on the move helps to hide the cut. Watch for emotion in your actors face and let the emotion play out. Like dance, try and go with the flow.
