It’s time to throw away your video camera

It's time to throw away your video camera

Yes, you heard me right. Your old video camera is way too clunky to carry around nowadays and its quality has been surpassed by other devices sporting high megapixel cameras. If you have a DSLR that’s okay, it still takes great still photos and videos. If you don’t have a DSLR and you are not a pro using RED cameras or similar then the way to go is mobile. Any mobile device with a camera will do. But you knew that already didn’t you?

The “shoot mobile” revolution has come about thanks to the many apps that can turn your camera into a wiz bang movie making machine. You just need to look at Vimeo to see how many movies have been made on mobile devices and this is increasing daily.

Not only can you shoot great video on your mobile with a supporting app, but you can edit on the go with a popular editing app such as iMovie and then upload it straight to YouTube or Vimeo for all to see without having to go near a computer.

Even some pros are shooting on mobiles, albeit with some serious pro gear to assure they get the quality they are after. An example of this is the Bentley TVC shot on the iPhone using the FilmicPro camera app and edited on iMovie. The gear they used.

More behind the scenes: A Bentley short film shot on the iPhone 6 and 6 plus. Savile Row and the bespoke Bentley driving jacket.
